Technical Safety BC is inviting comments from HRAI members, on the potential impacts of the proposed adoption of the latest editions of the CSA B149 gas code series, the CSA Z662 standard, and the BNQ-1784 for use in BC. HRAI Members are encouraged to comment on these changes and potential impacts on our gas codes consultation page.
Most gas contractors and gasfitters commonly use the CSA B149.1 for equipment installation, and CSA B149.3 for approvals. The changes in the new code would include:
- Requiring a permitting process for stationary engines
- New requirements for regulators and overpressure protection
- A newly consolidated annex for requirements from mobile food trucks
