Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

Education that strengthens understanding and respect for First Nations, Metis, and Inuit cultures

MediaEdge strongly supports the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and is committed to investing in fundamental changes within our organization to ensure our actions align with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations—specifically, Call to Action #92.
Reconciliation with FNMI communities stands as an imperative facet of seeking forgiveness for the historical injustices endured by these communities at the hands of colonial settlers. The legacy of mistreatment, epitomized by the systemic oppression inflicted through residential schools, environmental degradation, forced assimilation, linguistic and cultural erasure, and various other forms of abuse, has left deep scars on Indigenous Peoples and their communities.
As part of its RAP commitment, MediaEdge is providing all staff and management with education about FNMI history, culture, and the historical treatment of FNMI Peoples through training, consultation, and ongoing engagement with members of FNMI communities. Certification is achieved by accumulating credits through activities such as attending FNMI-led events, reading FNMI literature, completing a self-paced FNMI history course, and participating in art, film, workshops, fundraisers, and live performances by FNMI creators. Throughout the year, staff members also receive quarterly updates via an internal e-newsletter, which details seasonal activities, events, and progress related to RAP credits.

By pursuing their RAP certification, MediaEdge employees are formally committing to:

  1. Strengthening their knowledge of the land’s original stewards and contributing to a more informed, inclusive corporate culture.
  2. Recognizing the importance of building sustainable, mutually respectful relationships with FNMI communities.
  3. Embedding reconciliation principles into the company’s values and operations.
We are proud to embark on this journey of learning and reconciliation together as a company so we can better support and understand our FNMI partners, clients, and communities. By embracing reconciliation, we can build a future grounded in mutual respect, understanding, and solidarity, where FNMI people and communities are empowered to reclaim their heritage, language, culture, sovereignty, and lands.
Please get in touch with our RAP Committee Chair, Ashley Huston, for a more detailed overview.
Truth and Reconciliation is not a sideline responsibility—it’s a core commitment for any organization that seeks to operate ethically in Canada. Corporate communities must move beyond acknowledgment to action: listening to FNMI voices, investing in relationships, and embedding reconciliation into the fabric of our decision-making and impact.
– Kevin Brown, President & CEO
I have witnessed Canada begin to awaken from its long sleep of indifference toward Indigenous peoples. True reconciliation starts with acknowledging past wrongs and committing to positive change. MediaEdge has shown a genuine corporate commitment to building a level playing field through inclusive and informed business practices. Together, we can create a better future for all Canadians—because allies bring actions to the table.
– Andre Morriseau, Knowledge Keeper
Reconciliation is not a single act, but an ongoing commitment to truth, respect, and meaningful action. MediaEdge is committed to listening with humility, learning with openness, and acting with integrity. Our journey is guided by truth, respect, and accountability to foster meaningful relationships and lasting change. Through our RAP program, we affirm our dedication to walking together in partnership with our FNMI communities and partners to build a future rooted in trust and shared purpose.
