HRAI Engages in BC Roadmap to 2030, Buildings Pathway

August 5, 2021

CleanBC is British Columbia’s plan for a more prosperous and sustainable future.  It was recently noted that, since the release of CleanBC in 2018, however, the Province’s gap between legislated greenhouse gas targets and achieved reductions has actually grown.  The Province is therefore developing a “Roadmap to 2030,” which will be the Province’s response to the challenge of reducing emissions more aggressively to meet targets. Release of the Roadmap is expected this Fall.

On Wednesday, the BC Building and Safety Standards Branch (Ministry of Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Housing) and the Built Environment Branch (Ministry of Energy, Mines and Low Carbon Innovation) hosted a consultation session on reducing carbon emissions in the building sector.  HRAI’s Vice President of Government and Stakeholder Relations Martin Luymes participated in the session.  A copy of the presentation deck can be found HERE.

Future sessions on the building sector will be scheduled later in the fall to continue discussions and partnerships with affected parties and key market influencers like HRAI.

If you have any questions, or would like to add your comments, contact Martin Luymes at 1-800-267-2231 ext. 235 or email mluymes@hrai.ca.
