HRAI’s second annual Town Hall meeting will take place during the HRAI Contractors Division Annual General Meeting on September 23, 2021 and is designed to give Contractor members a voice in HRAI’s matters. Members may raise issues directly or vet them at the Chapter level and have the Chapter bring them forward to the HRAI staff and the Contractors Board of Directors.
HRAI Contractor members that have an issue that they would like to bring forward for discussion at the annual town hall must e-mail Scott Papp, Manager of Membership and Divisional Programs at spapp@hrai.ca using the subject line: HRAI Town Hall. As many items as possible will be reviewed live at the Town Hall with any remaining items left live until the issue has been discussed or resolved.
Last year, four submissions came forward, were subsequently approved by the HRAI Contractors Division Board of Directors and are being worked on:
- HRAI should engage with Technical Safety BC to explore the development of a compliance assistance program, to be managed by HRAI that would help BC contractors to comply with Boilers and Pressure Vessels (BPV) regulations, modeled on a similar program that has served members in Ontario.
- HRAI should develop a comprehensive plan for the development and implementation of a residential HVAC trade, tied into the existing Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Trade and building on the program model that exists in other provinces, to better serve the needs of the residential HVAC industry in the four Atlantic Provinces.
- HRAI should develop a plan of action to address concerns about inappropriate utility intrusions in to the HVAC marketplace in Alberta, collaborating with other industry groups as necessary.
- HRAI should explore the possibility of a legislated solution to concerns about municipally-owned utilities engaging in business activities outside the scope of regulation under the Ontario Energy Board.
The second annual Town Hall meeting gives members and / or their Chapters and Affiliated Associations the opportunity to engage with HRAI National by raising issues of concern.
