The Chair of the HRAI Atlantic Chapter, Eric Foren, recently sent a letter to the Clean Foundation that are acting on behalf of Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change, to express support for the Sustainable Development Goals Development Act.
The Act aims to advance Nova Scotia’s economic, social, and environmental wellbeing. It sets new goals to fight climate change and commits to a new Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth and creates a framework to set additional goals that advance Nova Scotia’s economic, social, and environmental welfare.
The Chapter expressed their appreciation for the Government of Nova Scotia’s efforts in developing policies and programs that consider both the environment and the economy. The Chapter encouraged the need for a collaborative approach in hope of opening new pathways and delivering new programs that will meet the goals of greenhouse gas reduction. The letter also encouraged the Nova Scotia government to support residential communities and commercial properties in making buildings more energy-efficient by promoting the transition away from burning fossil fuels.
