A worldwide shortage of semiconductor chips (microchips) that are used in electronics, household appliances and cars has drastically limited new vehicle production during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Fleet operators, including those in the HVACR industry, that rely on trucks and vans, may find themselves struggling to replace vehicles as auto manufacturers make tough decisions on which vehicles to complete and ship and which of those to sell retail or to fleet.
HRAI has agreements in place with Nissan Canada and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) for its members to obtain fleet discounts or concessions on some of their makes and models. To access these concessions, members must prove they are members of HRAI (we can help with that!), and have their own fleet account with the manufacturer, which can be setup a local dealership.
HRAI will continue to monitor this issue and report back to members as required. For more information or to learn more about the HRAI discounts with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles or Nissan Canada, please contact Scott Papp, Manager of Membership and Divisional Programs at spapp@hrai.ca or 800-267-2231 ext. 233.
