Simone is retiring after 22 years with the Town of Halton Hills!
Simone joined the Town in December 2000 as the Manager of Purchasing Services. Over the years her portfolio has expanded to include, town stores and risk management. She is retiring at the end of August as the Senior Manager of Purchasing & Risk Management.
Throughout her tenure, Simone has been an integral part of many key projects across the Town, and she has worked closely with staff from every department.
Among the many projects that have her imprint are:
- the construction of two new fire stations and renovations to a third,
- a new library and a major expansion and renovation to the second library,
- a new community centre,
- the Acton and Mold-Master Arena expansions,
- the construction of a public works facility,
- the conversion of a former firehall into a youth centre, and
- the purchase of countless vehicles and equipment for both the public works and fire departments.
Simone has been involved in a wide variety of projects and task forces over the years; from leading the purchasing policy reviews, to being a key member of the Town’s Emergency Management Task force (i.e. some major events: ice storm of 2013, COVID-19 etc.), and championing the purchasing card program at the Town, not to mention volunteering her time at Hometown Hockey held in Georgetown 2019.
For those who know Simone, you will know that she is passionate about her community and is always willing to assist and share information. Simone has been an active member of the Halton Co-operative Purchasing Group (HCPG) for the past 22 years. The cooperative focusses on collaboration between participating agencies to maximize efficiencies and best value.
Since joining the Town, Simone has been a true guardian of the Town’s reputation on all things procured and her technical knowledge, dedication to her work and friendship will truly be missed.
As Simone prepares to put aside her pen and pick up her golf clubs, adventure awaits!
A river boat cruise starting in Amsterdam and on to Germany, France and then Switzerland will kick off the first chapter of Simone’s retirement. She looks forward to spending time with family and friends, enjoying long walks with her dog, and golfing with her husband and friends!
Congratulations Simone!
