EDUCATION NEWS

September 6, 2022

As we enter September and the weather begins to change, MCAS would like to make everyone aware of some training particulars.

Firstly, we recently reached an agreement with MERIT Contractors that enables our members to register for MERIT courses at Merit member pricing. To take advantage of this exciting opportunity please visit https://meritsask.com/training/ to see their current listing of courses.

Secondly, TSASK has announced the following bulletin that is geared towards the changes in the Plumbing sector.

The Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan has announced that “Effective October 1st, 2022, plumbing permit holders constructing new plumbing systems must ensure installations are completed in accordance with 2.6.2 Division B of the 2015 edition of the NPC and the Saskatchewan Plumbing Code Regulations. The cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Lloydminster, and the Global Transportation Hub are subject to local bylaws and jurisdiction.”

To help facilitate any industry short comings, MCAS is offering a 4-day course that qualifies the candidate, upon successful completion of both written and practical exams, to a Cross Connection Control Specialist Tester certificate. The course will take place September 20 – 23, 2022, in Saskatoon. Candidates needing to recertify are required to only attend the first 2 days, with testing on their last day. You can register on our website at MCAS – Courses and Information (mca-sask.com)

Also in September, there will be a 3-hour 3 session online course all about Project Management: Planning, Scheduling and Control.  This course will provide you with the fundamental skills and knowledge required to successfully plan, schedule, and most importantly control simple to complex construction projects. This on-line course provides participants with both the technical and soft skills to be successful in managing your projects.

Coming in early October we will be running the HVAC Level 2. The registration deadline for this class is September 23rd, 2022. Students will need to have completed their Level 1 to register.
