HRAI Makes a Splash with “Day on the Hill” in Ottawa

March 22, 2017

On March 21st, HRAI held its first-ever “Day on the Hill” in Ottawa.  The HRAI Board of Directors and senior staff met with over a dozen MPs (Liberal and Conservative) and a half-dozen senior public servants at Natural Resources Canada, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and Innovation, Science and Economic Development.

The primary goal of the day was to elevate the government’s awareness of the importance of the HVACR industry in the everyday lives of Canadians and to highlight the role of HRAI in representing the industry.  A simple briefing note shared with MPs emphasized the industry’s impact on the Canadian economy and society and offered HRAI’s membership as a resource to assist in meeting specific social, economic and environmental objectives.

A Parliamentary Reception at the close of the day allowed the HRAI delegation to interact with parliamentarians and key staff in a more casual environment.

This event was a first-time experiment for HRAI but early feedback from many of the government personnel with whom the delegation met was that the approach is very effective and should be done on a regular basis.
