The Ontario Ministry of Transportation is proposing to bring vision, knowledge and medical requirements for Class D licence holders in line with licensing rules for all other classes of commercial vehicles.

The proposed changes to Ontario Regulation 340/94 would require that:

  • All drivers up to age 64 must undergo knowledge and vision testing every five years;
  • All drivers under 46-years-old must submit a medical report every five years;
  • All drivers ages 46 to 64 must submit a medical report every three years; and,
  • All drivers 65 and older would be required to submit a medical report every year.

Comments can be submitted in response to the government’s proposal by Nov. 17. If you would like to provide us with your thoughts on this issue, please contact our office as soon as possible.
