On May 14, 2018, TSSA posted proposed amendments to its boilers and pressure vessels (BPV) code adoption document (CAD) for public consultation and feedback. The comment submission period will close on June 13, 2018.

The proposed amendments to the BPV CAD incorporate new requirements introduced in the amended Ontario’s BPV regulation is scheduled to come into effect on July 1, 2018.

The proposed amendments include new requirements for Records of Inspection (ROI) and TSSA’s Certificates of Inspection (COI), a new inclusion of the education and experience requirements for Certificate of Competency (COC) applicants and new instructions to owners/operators and insurers of BPV equipment which require periodic inspections. In addition, the amendments include additional exemptions to the regulation that are currently enforced via a Director’s Order issued on July 1, 2007. The proposed amendments to BPV CAD are scheduled to come into effect starting July 1, 2018, to align with the enforcement date of new amended Ontario’s BPV regulation.

While HRAI expects that the proposed amendments to TSSA’s BPV CAD will mainly impact BPV systems owners/operators and insurers, HRAI still encourages its members to visit TSSA’s public consultations webpage to review the proposed CAD amendments, and submit any feedbacks and comments to TSSA by June 13, 2018.
