A reminder that May 14th, the provincial government launched Stage 1 of Framework for Reopening the Economy.

For HRAI’s members, this appears to be good news with two important changes to the list of the essential services:

  • Maintenance:  General maintenance and repair services can resume, and are no longer limited to “strictly necessary” maintenance.
  • Indoor and outdoor household services: Private households can now employ workers on or about the premises in activities primarily concerned with the operation of the household

Full details about Essential Services and the Provincial Reopening can be found here:  https://www.ontario.ca/page/list-essential-workplaces#section-6

In addition, the province has launched the Workplace PPE Supplier Directory, an up-to-date list of Ontario companies and business associations able to supply personal protective equipment (PPE).  The priority for PPE remains patients, frontline healthcare workers, and first responders. Businesses are encouraged to access only the PPE they need to keep their employees and customers safe.

To ensure the province is successful with the staged re-opening of the economy, HRAI Canada urges adherence to all public health measures and safety protocols.  This expansion of services is permitted provided the general trend on health indicators continues.
