The 2017 edition of The National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB 2017) and Section 9.36 of The National Building Code 2015 (NBC 2015) came into effect in the province of Saskatchewan, starting January 1, 2019.

 NECB 2017 and Section 9.36 of NBC 2015 requirements apply to any building permits issued on or after January 1, 2019.

 Section 9.36 of The National Building Code 2015 prescribes energy efficiency requirements for housing and small buildings. These requirements include air tightness and thermal insulation requirements for building envelope and minimum efficiency requirements for HVAC and service water heating equipment.

 The 2017 edition of The National Energy Code for Buildings (NECB 2017) describes energy efficiency requirements for large buildings, but it can be also used meet energy efficiency compliance requirements for housing and small buildings as well.
