HRAI’s Residential Ventilation courses have gone through a complete revision, and will now be provided in a modular format!  The five (5) new modules are:

  1. Principles of Residential Ventilation (An Introductory Online Module) which will be a prerequisite for any of the additional modules
  2. Residential Ventilation using Section 9.32 of the Building Code (a 2-day in-class Module)
  3. Residential Ventilation using CSA F326 (a 3-day in-class Module)
  4. HRV/ERV Installation & Balancing Fundamentals (a 1-day in-class Module with hands on equipment and balancing testing) Please note that this Module has a prerequisite of EITHER Module 2 OR Module 3.

HRAI is also pleased to announce a new designation!  The “Residential Ventilation Design Technician” or “RVDT” will be granted to those who successfully complete all five of the Ventilation Modules.

For those who currently hold HRAI’s Residential Mechanical Ventilation Installation – Level One and Res. Mechanical Ventilation Design – Level Two certifications, no worries!! During the recertification process in 2021, those with Installation – Level One will be granted the equivalent of Module 1 and 2, Principles of Res. Ventilation and Res. Ventilation using Section 9.32.  Those with Ventilation Design – Level Two will be granted the equivalent of Module 3, Res. Ventilation using CSA F326.  If you would like to obtain either of the other two certifications, you would need to attend the 1-day programs.

These new Ventilation Modules are being piloted in the Fall 2019.  Dates and locations are available on HRAI’s training website.

If you have any questions about one of these new Modules, please feel free to contact Angie Mantei, Manager, Education Delivery at 1-800-267-2231 ext 237 or amantei@hrai.ca.
