HRAI was saddened to learn of the passing of David “Dave” Kerr Wilson (Wilson Fuels and Kerr Controls, of Truro, NS) on June 29, 2020.  A serial entrepreneur, family man, avid sportsman and friend to many in the industry, Dave’s gregarious personality and zest for life made a lasting impression on all who met him. Dave Wilson’s businesses over the years supported their employees taking voluntary leadership roles with HRAI and other business associations and charitable causes, including most recently Steve Wilson, who serves on the HRAI Wholesalers Board of Directors.

Dave himself knew how to give back to his community and industry.  A Scout master for sixteen years, he was awarded the Canadian Commemorative Medal for outstanding community service and was patron of the Colchester Community Workshops Foundation. He served on numerous community boards, including the Colchester YMCA and King’s-Edgehill School, co-founded the Truro Bearcat Rugby Team in the late 1950s and helped form the Cobequid Spartans Gymnastics Club in the 1970s. He also organized the first ski instructor course in Atlantic Canada and became one of the first instructors.  He also served on many industry boards including Atlantic Chamber of Commerce, Nova Scotia Ski Areas Association and Central Nova Tourism Association.

Donations can be made to Colchester Community Workshops Foundation or the Canadian Ski Patrol.  For more information on Dave’s colourful life click here.
