  • In the first quarter of 2020, the volume of HVAC sales totaled $313,154 million, a 4% year‐over‐ year decrease, but remained above the 5‐year average.
  • 40,060 residential air conditioning units were shipped in the first quarter of 2020, a decrease of 18% year‐over‐year.
  • Sales of residential furnaces decreased in Q1 2020, down 15% year‐over‐year to a total 63,327 shipped.
  • The number of air handler units shipped decreased by 39% year‐over‐year in the first quarter of 2020 to a total of 562 units.
  • The number of chillers shipped increased by 4%, an increase of 10 units sold compared with the same period in 2019.
  • Commercial air conditioning units shipped in the first quarter of 2020 decreased to 6,576 units, down 5% compared with the same period in 2018.
  • Sales of ductless split systems decreased by 24% in the first quarter of 2020, below the 5‐ year average. Sales of ductless split systems were up 17% in 2019 when compared with 2018.
  • Unit heater shipments totaled 14,914 in the fourth quarter, down 26% year‐over‐year
