The Board of Directors of HRAI’s Contractors Division met virtually on June 24, 2020 and decided to eliminate the annual Democratic Assembly and replace it with an annual Town Hall meeting.

The Board has witnessed a decrease in submissions from the membership over the past several years and opted to introduce a new approach that will be less cumbersome and offer more flexibility for the membership.  As with the Democratic Assembly, the Town Hall meeting is designed to give Contractor members a voice in the governing of the association.  While members can still raise issues at the Chapter level and have the Chapter bring them forward, this new approach also allows individual HRAI Contractor members to bring issues forward for consideration of HRAI staff and the Contractors Board of Directors.

Ideally, issues will be brought forward at least 15 days prior to the date of the Town Hall Meeting but it does offer the flexibility for a member to raise an issue electronically during the meeting.  Priority will be given to issues delivered in advance of the meeting and time will be allowed to discuss issues submitted during the meeting as time allows.

It is hoped that this new approach will increase member engagement and make it easier for HRAI’s Contractor members to raise issues of concern to the Contractors Division.
