As members are no doubt aware, in order to be effective voice for the industry in Ottawa, HRAI must maintain meaningful relationships with both the ruling and opposition parties. When there are shifts in power, it is also important to connect, or re-connect, with political leaders and potential allies.

In the past two weeks, HRAI reached out to newly appointed Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland as well as new Leader of the Official Opposition Erin O’Toole.  The message to Minister Freeland focused on the potential role of the HVACR sector in meeting the government’s multiple goals as part of its “Green Economic Recovery” (which is expected to be the Minister’s first priority), whereas the message to O’Toole emphasized the pursuit of “a policy and regulatory environment that will enable our industry to deliver on the needs and expectations of Canadians.”
