Input Request: Consultation on Ontario’s Building Code Services Transformation

Ontario’s Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing is seeking stakeholders’ input on its discussion paper, released Sept. 24. The paper discusses potential changes to the delivery of building code services. Called “Transforming and modernizing the delivery of Ontario’s Building Code services,” the Ministry’s discussion paper is available here.

The paper seeks comments and input on:

  • Building code examination design, content, and delivery
  • Building code training delivery
  • Ways to attract and retain experienced building professionals
  • Streamlining building permit application process
  • Public registry system and process
  • Continuing professional development
  • Enhanced municipal enforcement
  • Improving building sector supports
  • The proposed introduction of a new levy on top of building permit fees
