On December 10, 2018 the Energy Step Code Council distributed a Special Stakeholder Bulletin on the CleanBC Climate plan including a new diagram to convey the timeline for the new energy-efficiency requirements in the BC Building Code:

Provincial Climate Plan Establishes BC Energy Step Code Implementation Schedule

Just over three years from now, every new building going up in British Columbia will need to be 20 per cent more energy efficient than those built to the requirements of the 2018 BC Building Code.

That’s the most significant built-environment commitment in CleanBC, the province's new climate and clean growth strategy, released last week. The new plan establishes deadlines for the government’s adoption of BC Energy Step Code metrics in the base building code, as follows:
