On July 20, the Government of British Columbia announced that it is developing a long-term clean growth strategy for release in the fall and is inviting input to guide the plan.  The Clean Growth Strategy will bring together the province’s planned action on climate change as well as work already underway to drive sustainable economic growth with cleaner energy and fewer emissions. The plan will be integrated with the province’s Economic Development Strategy, Tech Strategy and Emerging Economy Task Force. It will set out the province’s vision for a clean growth future and a pathway to our greenhouse gas emissions reductions targets.

HRAI will be engaged in the consultation process.  As an initial step, the government is looking for input on their first set of “intentions papers”, the key one for the HVACR industry being a discussion on Clean, Efficient Buildings.

The intentions papers will be available for comment from July 20 to August 24, 2018 at 4pm.

Members are encouraged to review the Introductory Document and the intentions paper on Clean, Efficient Buildings and to participate in any of the five online discussions on related to buildings, which include:

  • Mandatory Building Energy Labelling
  • Financial Incentives
  • Stronger Codes and Standards
  • Low Carbon Buildings Innovation Program
  • Training and Certification

Individuals and organizations who wish to send additional information can also email their submissions to clean.growth@gov.bc.ca by August 24, 2018.
