On June 23, HRAI BC Representative Victoria Cross and VP Martin Luymes participated in a wide-ranging full-day stakeholder engagement workshop about British Columbia’s Low Carbon Building Electrification Road Map, which includes plans for full electrification of all space and water heating in the province by 2030.

The consultation included almost 100 stakeholders including BC Ministry of Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, BC Building Safety Standards Branch, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, BC Hydro, FortisBC, the City of Vancouver and various other municipalities, Natural Resources Canada, industry groups, and environmental and consumer representatives.

The purpose of the workshop was to review and provide feedback on the draft Road Map that the consultant team – Integral Group and the New Buildings Institute (NBI) – developed and to collaboratively build a Plan of Action. The discussion was set up to help shape the steps and actions necessary to transform the market for high efficiency heat pumps in BC over the next 10 years.
