As noted elsewhere, the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) created an “Epidemic Task Force” (ETF) earlier this year to help deploy ASHRAE’s technical resources and address the challenges of the current pandemic and future epidemics as related to the effects of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning systems.  HRAI has been in regular contact to ensure it has up-to-date guidance to offer the industry in Canada.

In addition to providing guidance for the re-opening of commercial buildings, ASHRAE has been frequently asked to advise on best practices for HVAC in residential applications.

In response to this demand, ASHRAE has issued some guidelines specific to homes.  As these guidelines may be subject to change, HRAI advises members to check in regularly and add any questions of their own if the information seems incomplete.  Click HERE for access to the site, or HERE for a downloadable PDF document.

HRAI has incorporated these guidelines into its online COVID-19 awareness training that it is now offering to HVAC contractors and their employees across the country.  For more information on this training, click HERE.
