SOPRA XPS 35 R10 Sh a low
The right insulation for the job!

Deciding what kind of insulation to install in your commercial roofing project is a big decision with even bigger consequences. Choose the wrong material and the building might be doomed to costly leakages and considerable energy wastage for years to come. Choose the right material and the building will be moisture-free and energy efficient for as long as the building stands.

One new product on the market is SOPRA-XPS, a rigid extruded polystyrene thermal insulating board with shiplap or squared edges. Made of closed-cell foam, this insulation is mainly used for SOPREMA foundation systems and inverted roofs, including plaza decks, green roofs and parking decks.

The first quality that makes SOPRA-XPS a leading, high-performing insulation is its outstanding resistance to water. With a dense, closed-cell composition, these panels are designed to perform in all applications, even in areas exposed to moisture (such as below-grade walls and inverted roofs). They’re also adaptable and can handle extreme temperature changes and freeze-thaw cycles without perpetual damage. Better still? Even when exposed to moisture, SOPRA-XPS is mould and bacteria resistant.

Compliant with CCMC requirements

SOPRA-XPS meets CCMC requirements and is consistent with CAN ULC S701.1 standards thanks to the following four features:

  • Good compressive strength
  • High R-value (R-5/inch)
  • Dimensional stability
  • Very low water absorption

SOPRA-XPS has a consistent R-value, meaning it maintains its thermal and mechanical performance throughout the life of the building. Moreover, it’s incredibly durable with a high compression strength for both heavy and dynamic loads.

Reduced air leakage

The homogeneous closed cell composition of SOPRA-XPS prevents large gaps in the insulation, and this, in turn, prevents any uncontrolled movement of air through the assemblies. For those seeking LEED certification, the use of SOPRA-XPS can contribute to obtaining LEED credits.

Rigid and resistant, SOPRA-XPS is compatible with several types of applications. It is easy to cut, clean and is dust-free. It’s also lightweight, simple to install, and available in different sizes and compressive strengths to meet all needs.

Finally, we all know that energy loss caused by air leaks from a poorly insulated building can represent a high percentage of heating and cooling costs. In summer and winter, SOPRA-XPS helps regulate the temperature inside a building over a long period, since it maintains its thermal performance throughout the life of the building.

In summary, if you’re on the hunt for an insulation that offers exceptional water resistance, superior long-term thermal performance and a product that’s lightweight and easy to install, look no further than SOPRA-XPS for your next commercial roofing project.
