Neil RitchieRon Durocher, Chair of the Board of the Canadian Coalition for Green Health care is pleased to announce that Neil Ritchie has been appointed to the position of Executive Director.  Neil replaces Linda Varangu, the founding Executive Director who will stay on to work on the Coalition’s climate change portfolio. 

“I’m delighted to work with a group of people that are so passionate about their work and who have accomplished so much to reduce health care’s carbon footprint”, said Ritchie.

Previously, Neil has led the Green Health Leaders Initiative for the Coalition which focused on enabling health executives, physician leaders and board members to become better environmental stewards. Neil is an experienced health care executive who has worked as a CEO, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of large, multi-site academic teaching centers, regional health authorities and community hospitals in Canada. He’s also worked as an executive with a number of health technology start-up companies. Neil holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Dalhousie University and a Masters in Health Services Administration from the University of Alberta.

For nearly 20 years, the Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care has been helping those working in health care facilities, government, non-governmental organisations and businesses to share green health best practices and to become better prepared to deal with climate change.

The Coalition was recently recognized as a Gold Climate Champion among 14 countries by Health Care Without Harm and recently received its third ENERGY STAR® Advocate of the Year Award. Learn more at www.greenhealthcare.ca
